The Importance of List building

Alright lets say you have a nice site where you are showing people how to grow organic herbs. You are getting tons of visitors every day because you have all of your traffic strategies in line.

Next you are selling a very informative course on “How to Grow Organic Herbs Without Losing your Shirt.” This is a video course with a manual and the whole works that you sell for 37 dollars.

At this point you are receiving about 3 – 4 sales a week because people love your content and they want to see more.

BUT then again there are tons of people that come to your site once and leave for good. In a week of 500 visitors only about 100 come back. Now you have lost 400 more people that could have potentially bought your course.

Tons of people don’t understand how that affects your business. Many people either don’t know or disregard the rumors.

Well the average person is not an impulse buyer. This means they need to see the product at least 7 times before they decide to buy. Think about a couple times when you wanted something, but there were doubts holding you back. “Do I really need this? Should I really get this?” You know what I mean.

This means that if you were to show someone a product that they want, but don’t know they want at least 7 times they just might purchase it.

The only way to follow up with these 400 people that ran away from your site is to get them on your list. With this list you can give them exclusive content and give them deals and ultimately build a relationship with the potential buyer.

The thing is, not everyone will just give you their email addresses. Another thing is that if they are not willing to give you their email address than there is no chance that they will pull out a card.

You have got to offer something of value. Value is the name of the game here. Offer something for free, for example, a short pdf on how to find the cheapest supplies in your area. Maybe you can even send them a hard copy of how you personally grew an entire garden using only 3 tools. Whatever the case is, you must offer enough value to make that visitor want to join your list.

And when you get that subscriber you need to treat him/her like gold. As if you just got a new kitten, you have got to take care of it.

My brother works with a small business down in Virginia. I told them to get involved with an email list and they will see an increase in sales. They are a business within the marine life niche selling high ticket fish and supplies. Since then they have had about a 10% -15% increase in sales just from having a list. And they haven’t even tapped into the full potential yet. We will work on that later.

Give Give Give! That will ensure your success. Every successful business in the game all over the world only makes business by giving more value than the money received. That is how you make it happen.

Until next time,

David R.
